Hana Air hair dryer (my review here) / Spornette Prego 270 hairbrush / Biosilk Silk Therapy / GHD flatiron (mine looks just like the one in the picture and is a few years old but this is one is similar) / Oscar Blandi Pronto dry shampoo / L'Oreal Elnett satin hairspray
There are so many ways to maintain healthy hair and washing hair less frequently always tops the list. Washing hair every day strips away oils that keeps hair supple and healthy and if you have long hair like I do it is just too inconvenient. Most of the time I try and wash my hair every two to three days and I use dry shampoo between washes and after workouts to absorb oils and extend time between washes. I also use Moroccan oil after each wash to soften hair and help maintain shine. Other tricks that seem to work for me include using minimal styling products that cause my hair to be weighed down or greasy, avoid running fingers in my hair, and minimize highlights to twice yearly.
Usually after washing my hair I like to wear it straight the first day, tousled and wavy the second, and then up in a low or high ponytail or bun on the third day. But I hear Washington D.C. gets humid and hot in the summer so I might have to come up with three new hairstyles and new styling products for my naturally wavy and somewhat unruly hair.

Yup, consider the last few days an introduction to the hot, humid DC weather. Days 2 & 3 will join your rotation much more frequently. That being said, both are reason to stock up on fun hair accessories with which you might not otherwise bother.
Also, you know that one type of hair you wish you had, even if you love yours? Yours is mine. Always dreamed of long, deep locks that will go fully straight or wavy depending on my mood. #lesigh
great tips! I was looking for a good dry shampoo!
Naina, this is great! I generally don't wash my hair every day either (usually every other for me). I wish I could do the third day ponytail but my hair isn't long enough. Your hair looks great every which way! Lissy
Get out all the anti-frizz stuff for DC!! Actually, it wasn't that bad, my hair got used to it - you just have to make sure you blow dry it really well and get out all the moisture.
This is REALLY helpful! Which is the blow dryer and flat iron you have in the picture?
Thanks a ton for this post!!!!!!
i LOVE Moroccan oil...I was stoked when they came out with one for fine/blonde hair!
Summer is my least favorite "hair" time of year. Mine is naturally wavy (and super long) so it tends to be a disaster. I wear it back in a ponytail or bun mostly in the humid months...only taking it down for special occassions lol...I am an every other day washer...I don't know if I could make it a third day but maybe I should try some of your tips and tricks!
You look beautiful in all the photos!!!

Such a fun post Naina! I love the 3 styles. I have been trying to wash my hair 2x/week tops and I have noticed such an improvement in the quality of my hair. It's amazing how NOT doing something can yield such great results :) Hope you're having a great week! I just got back from visiting the family in Florida and now we're headed to New York to see my in laws this weekend! xo
Such great looks! I know I should wash my hair less frequently but I have. Actually curly hair that I blow straight and most days I wake up looking a wreck. I do give my hair a break during summer months while I'm at the beach and let it be curly and wash every 2 or 3 days. Curious to see how you do during the summer. NYC is so hot & humid too.
Hope you're doing well, sweetie! :)
Love dry shampoo! With three kids and trying to look a bit glamorous that's the savior! Marroccoan oil is also good, totally agree with you! Love from Sweden
I've just recently purchased dry shampoo but haven't used it yet. I cannot wait to as you only have good things to say about it :) Your hair looks amazing, whether straight, tousled or tied.
Ps: Your images are amazing!
what a great post! i am all for washing my hair less often... it either gets extremely oily or extremely dry (depending on the time of the year), so this past year, i've been really focused on finding the right products to keep it healthy & clean- after a day of washing.
Naina, you're stunning! I love how you styled it three ways -- I couldn't possibly pick a favorite; they're all darling and perfect for summer.
