    This Week's STYLE FINDS

    Happy Friday!

This week I decided to mix things up and focus on what some of my favorite pieces are to wear when I am lounging around or getting outside. I wanted to debunk the age old myth that comfort and style can't cohabitate. From comfy and stylish sweatpants to the perfect racerback tank top, these Style Finds are all incredible for a more relaxed day.

On Monday it was all about finding a sweatshirt that was comfortable and cozy, yet still fashionable. This dual Zipper DeLacy style is a combination of all those requirements, it is flattering, fashion forward and still relaxed.

On Tuesday the Outdoor Voices tank from J.Crew was the great Style Find. This top is so simple and sleek, it pairs perfectly with leggings for a run or with jeans and sandals. Either way it is incredibly stylish no matter what you are up to.

Wednesday was centered on shoes, these bright and bold Nike sneakers may just be the motivation we need in order to get up and get active.

Finally, on Thursday I focused on sweatpants. Many people don't perceive sweatpants as a piece that can be flattering and fashionable. However, this Sundry pair proves both of those ideas. The slim fit and cropped style keep these pants from being anything but a good idea. With all of these Style Finds you may find yourself craving a more relaxed day, but don't fret because these pieces prove that active wear and loungewear can be stylish and sleek.

    Sandal Of The Summer

    1. Birkenstock leather sandals | 2. Charlotte Stone double strap sandals | 3. Steve Madden slidee | 4. Birkenstock bright white patent birko | 5. Newbark roman leather striped sandals | 6. Alvaro antonia leather sandals

Today we have our fashion and beauty contributor, Faith Pierce, sharing her top picks of Birkenstocks and other similar style sandals.

While the return of the Birkenstock isn’t exactly a new trend (the ladies over at Vogue have been sporting them in the halls of the Condé Nast building for about a year now); the slide on sandal has definitely hit mainstream fashion in a big way the past few weeks. Fashion bloggers and style icons alike have been throwing them on to stay comfy and cool this summer. In my opinion the shoes work well with many looks (skirts/skorts, culottes, and dresses) but my favorite combo is the one you see above. Ankle baring denim (of any shade), with casual, cool pieces in neutral tones. It’s almost an all-year look, perfect for summer but so easily transitioned into fall.

Along with the classic Birkenstocks (I’ve had my eye on those patent leather white bad boys); I’ve rounded up a few other options in varying price points that will look ultra chic whether you are running around the city or just running to the grocery store.

Tell me below, are you on board with the Birkenstock or not?

    What To Wear: Summer Concert

The summer is the perfect opportunity to take time and enjoy the little things. Whether you are heading to the National Portrait Gallery sculpture garden to catch jazz in the park or you spending a night at the 9:30 club to take in a show, you want to look great. For summer concerts it is crucial to strike the balance between stylish and low-key. You want to create a look that is somewhat formal, depending on your venue, but nonetheless effortlessly chic. Above all you are going out to enjoy yourself and enjoy a show, so you want your ensemble to be conducive to a relaxing and enjoyable time.

A perfect way to go about dressing for a summer concert is to choose a bold pair of tailored shorts and pair them with a casual tank top, a fitted blazer and then finish the look off with a statement ankle strap shoe. This combination is great because the tailored pieces create a more formal feel, while the bold print and casual top strike a balance of fancy and comfortable. If you want a more relaxed feel to your ensemble opt for a pair of strappy sandals, however if you want to create a more formal look choose an ankle strap heel to add some elevation. Top off your look with a few pops of gold from your favorite bangles and then grab your favorite slouchy leather clutch for a look that will ensure a comfortable and chic night out to any venue.- Carly

    1. What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me consists of starting work after I drop my kids off to school which is around 9am.  I check emails, orders from the day before and also catch up on all fashion news and celebrity news as that helps me shape my blog posts and social media posts for the day.  I also talk to the manufacturer multiple times in the morning to make sure pieces that are in production are of excellent quality and completed in a timely fashion.  By mid-afternoon, I start working on media requests as that is a never ending pit it seems.  I stop work by 3pm since I have to pick up my kids but I typically do some work right after 8pm once the kids are in bed.

    2. How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is very modern and contemporary.  I have a knack for trends but I make them age appropriate and classy.  I try to be in great shape as well, but my dressing style is very modest.  I am big on dresses, which is very surprising since I did not wear my first dress till I was 21 years old since I was such a tomboy growing up.   You will rarely find me “not dressed’ up even when I am with my kids.  Jeans are more of a winter outfit for me.

    3. What are your favorite items in your wardrobe and why?

Maxi dresses are one of my favorite go-to outfits.  They are flattering, sexy and dressed up.  It takes a few seconds to slip one on and may even make you want to put some makeup on. I also love short summer dresses and a simple tank top with a scarf.

    4. Do you have any style or beauty secrets to share?

Most women especially mom’s let themselves go and do not realize how little time it takes to “look” well put together.  A simple scarf over a white tee or tank top makes you look so trendy.  It takes less time slipping a maxi dress on instead of sweat pants and looks so much more appealing.  A statement necklace immediately becomes the focus of attention and bright lipstick makes you look like you just had a visit with your dentist and got your teeth whitened.  Its is these simple two minute secrets that can help all of us look well put together and feel beautiful inside and out!

    5. How do you spend your "me" time?

I went to a women’s empowerment retreat in Florence earlier this year and it is one of the things we focused on since every person needs that especially women entrepreneurs who wear many hats.  I have gotten much better about powering off after 8pm, and when I am with my kids, I make sure I am fully present.  I keep weekends free for my family but above all, I also take 45 min every day to work out.  It helps me set the tone for my day and I am able to handle stress a lot better.  But above all, I try to take family vacations as well need to energize and rejuvenate.

    6. What is the most important thing you have learned through running your own business?

Finding a balance.  Not only between personal and family time, but also when to do more and when to stop.  There will always be more to do and more to get done, but keeping your eyes on your goal and deciding when to do more and when to stop is key.  Sometimes reevaluating your goals and which direction to put more effort in is also a quality that may help or break your business.

    7. What is your mantra?

Have fun in whatever your do.  When the passion fades and you ‘hate what you love doing’, then it becomes a chore.  As much as I love fashion and what I do, I have to be sure that when it becomes “not fun” or arduous, I am losing sight of the shore.

Style Profile is a bi monthly style column featuring creative and talented entrepreneurs and business owners. I feature the stylish women behind these successful businesses and brands, their personal style, and share a glimpse into their typical work day.

    This Week's STYLE FINDS

    Happy Friday!

This week’s Style Finds were all centered on creating an everyday ensemble that embodied the nautical theme. Often times when people think about this trend, they picture large anchors and bold stripes that aren’t always flattering. However, these pieces are all simple, sleek and subtle enough that they culminate in a low key but high style look.

On Monday the Style Find was all about sunglasses. Every summer look needs a pair of shades and this Stella McCartney pair are the perfect combination of tortoise and cat-eye.

On Tuesday it was time to reveal the nautical dress, a subtle and flowy striped number that exudes an effortless yet chic vibe. The loose fit and light color makes this trend more fun and casual.

On Wednesday it was time to add a layer to this look without overheating. In the summer is can be hard to layer because it is so hot and you do not want to feel constrained or uncomfortable. A lightweight denim vest is a great solution because it adds another element of style without leaving you sweltering.

Finally, on Thursday the look was complete with a simple and structured cross body bag. This style is perfect for summer because it forces you to think less is more. Instead of piling everything into a large tote, you can try to downsize and only bring the essentials. This look is an easy way to stay stylish and comfortable in the summer heat, however all of these pieces are also great summer staples to mix and match with. --Carly
