Last Friday I attended the Front Row Fashion Show in Bethesda with VIP special guest Jessica Alba in attendance. The fashion show featured spring and summer ensembles from several Bethesda Row stores and one of my favorite looks on the runway was a magenta maxi skirt and mustard colored blouse. The look is bold and beautiful and perfect if you're heading to a Memorial Day barbecue this weekend.

For the next five Mondays I will be featuring some of this season's hottest spring and summer dresses from Nordstrom and first up is this silk floral shift dress by Rachel Roy. I am a new admirer of her spring/summer dress collection. The quality is amazing, the dresses are impeccably tailored, and there is a great array of saturated hues. 

Floral silk dresses may not seem work appropriate but with the addition of a crisp white blazer and a pair of closed toe nude heels the outfit is perfect for the office. It is feminine, sophisticated, and a great choice for the spring and summer months.

Trench coats may be on trend for the spring season but they are also a wardrobe must have item. A trench coat is a timeless piece and is one of those few items that is both practical and glamorous.

There are many times when I am in casual "work from home" attire and if I have to go out I throw on my classic trench and flats and I instantly look put together and stylish. I have a classic beige trench and this pastel one and with all the rain we have been having here I have been wearing mine nonstop.  Trench coats are also great transitional pieces from one season to the next and they are flattering on most body shapes and sizes.

Happy Monday.  Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I just got back from an amazing weekend in Charlotte with my family.  We spent Saturday at the Wells Fargo golf tournament and I am quite certain I am now addicted to golf.  It was my first time attending a golf tournament and it was so much fun- well apart from the moment when I almost got hit in the head with a golf ball!  As always my time with the family was too short but it was relaxing and so much fun to all be together. 

A great way to dress up a pair of distressed jeans is to add a colorful tank and blazer, a fabulous pair of heels, and an oversized envelope clutch.
