ASK A STYLIST: How To Wear Ankle Boots

     1/2/3/4/5/6/7

I have received several questions from readers about styling ankle boots so today I thought I would share a few of my favorite ways to wear ankle boots for fall and winter.

Seven Ways to Wear Ankle Boots

    1. Heading out for the evening in a fabulous dress? Swap out your high heels with a chic pair of ankle boots for a look that is on trend and stylish. Just be sure the hem of the dress is above the knee so you can create a long leg line.

    2. Ankle boots work great with a pencil skirt and I love the monochromatic look here with a black pencil skirt, tights, and boots. The addition of a plaid shirt is on trend and casual.

    3. Casual ankle boots with a casual feminine dress is one of my favorite looks.  The look is relaxed and comfortable and the addition of a cropped or moto jacket adds even more edge to the outfit.

    4. If you’re looking to wear your ankle boots at the office select a pair that is dressy and with a heel. Style the ankle boots with a skirt, shirt, sweater, and tights for a polished and sophisticated work appropriate look.

    5. For a casual weekend look pair up ankle boots with skinny jeans {or leggings}. Tuck the jeans into the boots to create a long lean leg line. Add an oversized knit, tote, and fabulous pair of sunglasses to finish off the look.

    6. Show off your ankles by wearing your ankle boots with jeans that are either rolled up or cuffed. You can play around with the cuff size and either go with 2-3 small rolls or 2-3 large rolls.

    7. Ankle boots and either leather or black leggings is so sexy yet sophisticated. I love this chic look and it’s perfect for date night or and evening out in the city .

Great tips! I loved the look of my ankle boots with black tights and dress at the Femworking Conference in Crystal City last weekend.

I've been on the hunt for ankle boots for the past month now and I definitely need to step it up now! Your post has me feeling so inspired and I can't wait to get a pair just so I can really play and have fun with them. I'm especially loving how they look with a dress!
