Bow Tie
mike & ton silk chameuse poet dress, Zara belt, and Manolo Blahnik shoes
On Saturday I wore this mike & ton silk dress to a Manolo fashion show at Neiman Marcus. I spotted this dress several months ago at a local trunk show hosted by the designers and I immediately loved it. For the looks shown here I tied the bow and added a belt for a more fitted look. But even if you take away the belt, un tie the bow, and add a big statement necklace, the dress looks just as stylish. It’s like having two dresses in one.
And the Manolo Blahnik event at Neiman Marcus was really interesting and fun. Manolo Blahnik’s president George Malkemus was in town hosting a fashion show where he personally showcased the Manolo shoe collection, told us some wonderful stories about each pair, and welcomed feedback to take back to Manolo. (I asked for wider shoes)
The best story had to be about a trunk show George and Manolo had in LA many years ago where a woman asked about putting a few pairs of Manolos’ on layaway. Manolo did not offer layaway but in this one time he allowed this charming customer to put three pairs of shoes on layaway. Unknown to George and Manolo at the time, this person was Sarah Jessica Parker. Sarah Jessica has always remembered this kind gesture especially when she went on to star in Sex and The City. And as we all know Manolo’s became a favorite of character Carrie Bradshaw and were mentioned frequently on the show.
